Ramadan 1444 AH

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh. May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be with you. The Northern Muslim Association is pleased to announce tomorrow Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023 will be the last day of Shaban 1444.  The first day of Ramadan this year is going to be Thursday March 23rd, 2023 Insha Allah. Ramadan Mubarak to all of you, May Allah make fasting it easy for all of us.

Please join us for the daily Iftar provided by volunteers after Magrib, Isha & Taraweeh every night led by Sheik Shareef Alzahran and Halaqa every Friday and Saturday after Taraweeh at the Antwerp Masjid. The first Taraweeh will be held tomorrow, Wednesday March 22,2023, immediately after the Ishaa prayer at 09:15 pm, Inchaa Allah.

It’s with a great pleasure that The Northern Muslim Association (NMA) announces that; the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1443 AH (Eid Al-Adha) meets Saturday, July 9, 2022.

Eid Prayer will be @ 9:00 AM Sharp at Masjid (468 Antwerp Ave., Sudbury)

Eid Takbeer will start @ 8:30 AM

Please bring sweets to share with the community. Light treats and coffee will be served after Eid Prayer.

Eid Al-Fiter 1443 AH (2022 Gregorian)

Brothers and Sisters, Salam Aliukum

There was no confirmed sighting of new Hilal on Saturday 29th of Ramadan and thus we will complete the 30 days of Ramada. It has been confirmed that the 1st of Shawwal and Eid El-Fitr will be Monday May 2, 2022.

May Allah (SWT) accept our fasting, our prayers, our worship and all our good deeds done in the month of Ramada, Ameen.

Eid El- Fitr Prayer will be @ 8:00 AM Sharp at Masjid (468 Antwerp Ave., Sudbury)

Eid Takbeer will start @ 7:30 AM

Ramadan 1443 AH

The Northern Muslim Association is pleased to announce today Friday, April 1st , 2022 will be the last day of Shaban 1443.  The first day of Ramadan this year is going to be Saturday April 2nd, 2022 Insha Allah. Ramadan Mubarak to all of you, May Allah make fasting it easy for all of us.

Inchallah this Ramadan will be the first since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic that Musallis will be allowed to pray shoulder to shoulder without any vaccination requirements. Masks and prayer mats are optional. Passive screening of individuals prior to entering the masjid will no longer be required.

January 3, 2022 – COVID-19 Announcement

Dear Brothers and Sisters
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh
Based on the most recent announcements by Government of Ontario, the Northern Muslim Association (NMA) announces that beginning Monday, January 3, 2022 our Masjid will allow congregants up to permitted 50% of the Maximum capacity – At this stage, the maximum allowed indoor capacity at our Masjid will be 150 persons.
Note: more announcements to come as we continue to move in right direction into the next step of reopening

Eid Al-Adha 1442 AH (2021)

Dear Muslim Brothers and Sisters, Assalamu Alikum,

June 11, 2021 – COVID-19 Announcement

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh

Based on the most recent announcements by Government of Ontario, the Northern Muslim Association (NMA) is pleased to announce that beginning Friday, June 11 our Masjid will allow congregants up to permitted 15% of the Maximum capacity – At this stage, the maximum allowed indoor capacity at our Masjid will be 42 persons.

This announcement is part of Step 1 of the ‘Roadmap to Reopen’ the Ontario Government is implementing to safely and cautiously reopen the province and gradually lift public health measures. We encourage our community members to keep following all the guidelines of the public health officials to help decrease community transmission.

April 23, 2021 – COVID-19 UPDATE

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh

First we would like to extend our apology to al members of our community for any confusion that maybe caused by the lack of communication regarding the program to arrange congregants for prayers at NMA Masjid due to recent lockdown measures.

We are reaching to you again to let you know that we will continue to use both the main Masjid hall (main level) AND the lower space to perform prayers. Attendance will be on basis of first come. Please use front door to enter the main level and back door to enter the lower level. Signs are posted at masjid entrances to direct congregants.

– All prayers including Jummah and Taraweeh prayers will be performed at the Masjid with consideration to the NEW limited capacity of 10 congregants at all times.

Main hall (9 congregants plus Imam) and Lower hall (10 congregants) per prayer.

– Jummah prayers will be performed on Friday (1:30 PM; 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM).

– There will be two Taraweeh prayers (10:00 PM and 10:45 PM) including Ishaa prayer. Note: start time will change by 15-minute interval in the coming weeks.

– IFTAR will continue at masjid with consideration to same capacity limit noted above for each level and strict adherence to social distancing please.

Please note that the Masjid doors will be locked (signed will be posted) once we reached the limited capacity. Anyone that arrives after will not be allowed to enter. Follow posted signs for more instructions.

1) stay in your car until first group leave masjid and then you are allowed to enter masjid for the next prayer.

2) leave immediately after Fard prayer. Sunnah and Nafl prayers are to be performed at home. No social gatherings are permitted inside and outside please.

3) please follow blue markings on the floor to maintain social distancing when praying.

April 19, 2021 – COVID-19 Announcement

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh

Based on the most recent announcements by Government of Ontario, the government is limiting the capacity of religious services to 10 people indoors or outdoors. This new restriction will commence 12:01 AM Monday April 19, 2021 and will continue until is lifted by the government. We encourage our community members to follow the guidelines of public health officials to stay at home to decrease community transmission.

We will continue to ONLY use main masjid hall (main level) until approval is granted by Sudbury Health Unit to use lower space. Currently, space will be limited to only 10 spots for individuals (including Imam) per prayer. More update to follow.

  1. All prayers including Jummah and Taraweeh prayers will be performed at masjid with consideration to NEW limited capacity of 10 congregants at all time.
  2. Multiple Jummah prayers will be performed on Friday (1:30 PM; 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM) to accommodate as many people as needed. The Khutbah and prayer together should not exceed 25 minutes in order to allow the following congregation to enter masjid without cross traffic forming.
  3. There will be two Taraweeh prayers (10:00 PM and 10:45 PM) including Ishaa prayer.
  4. Iftar will be held daily after Maghrib with consideration to the limited capacity of 10 attendants at all time

IMPORTANT : Jummah and Taraweeh Prayers’ Registration

To ensure that we comply with the regulations, we are requesting all congregants to pre register for Jummah prayer (including Taraweeh prayers) using the link provided in the social media (WhatsApp). Please send name and phone number to info@nmasudbury.com to have you registered in the group.

Please note masjid front doors will be locked once we reached the limited capacity. Anyone that arrives after will not be allowed to enter.

Ramadan 1442 AH

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh. May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be with you.

The Northern Muslim Association is pleased to announce today Monday, April 12, 2021 will be the last day of Shaban 1442.  The first day of Ramadan this year is going to be Tuesday April 13, 2021 Insha Allah. Ramadan Mubarak to all of you, May Allah make fasting it easy for all of us.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic restrictions on gatherings at religious places in Ontario, the Taraweeh prayers will be performed daily at our masjid with consideration to limited capacity set by Sudbury Health Unit (i.e. 15% of the normal capacity – in our case, the maximum allowed indoor capacity at our masjid is 40 persons).  Please try to come early to be allowed inside. For your safety and the safety of others, please follow these simple tips:

  1. Come prepared with wudu, bring your own prayer mat, keep your mask on and practice social distancing at all times
  2. Please follow all COVID-19 Protocols and be considerate of others.
  3. If you are not feeling well please pray at home.
